BASIC NURSING PROGRAM

The General Nursing Program will give you the knowledge and skills you need to provide evidence-based and compassionate nursing care to children and adults. Your learning at La Vera College of Nursing Science, Hillcrest-Nsukka, will be guided by world-class dedicated and experienced educators and researchers.
Our experienced clinical instructors will teach you clinical skills through a range of specialty nursing placements, and simulated practical skills in our ultra-modern demonstration lab.
Applicants for the General Nursing Program must hold the Senior Secondary School Certificate from West African Examination Council (WAEC) or National Examination Council (NECO) with minimum of five subjects at credit level including English Language, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and Mathematics at not more than two (2) sittings.
At the successful completion of the program, you will be eligible to register with Nursing & Midwifery Council of Nigeria as a Registered Nurse (RN)
BASIC MIDWIFERY PROGRAM
The Basic Midwifery program will prepare you to provide expert, well informed and compassionate care to women, newborn infants and their families as a qualified midwife. Midwives work across the spectrum from pre-pregnancy, pregnancy, labour and child birth, postpartum and newborn infants’ life.
This program covers all aspects of midwifery including supporting mothers in a wide variety of ways after the birth; encouraging recommended vaccinations, promoting breastfeeding, establishing feeding routines, routine assessment, and discussing contraceptive choices where necessary. There is a strong focus on linking theory to practice with part of the course delivered in classroom and the other part taught in clinical posting
